With the added responsibility and chaos of raising triplets, it’s easy to forget that our two older boys are still ‘little’. I thought today I would highlight Elijah, or ELI as he likes to be called. (The child does NOT like to be called Elijah or ‘E’ for some reason, and WILL correct you for it).
Eli was ‘Star of the Week’ last week in his class. We had to make 2 large posters with pictures, telling everyone all about him, his favorite things, his family, etc. In addition, the Star of the Week brings home a backpack with a teddy bear, and 2 books about teddy bears, inside. They keep it the entire week. He slept with the bear each night. We had to return the backpack yesterday, and along with it we were supposed to send back a picture of him with the bear. It was this picture that reminded me how ‘little’ he still is.
Eli is 7 years old and is in 1st grade. He is our middle child, not the oldest, not the youngest, not a multiple… just Eli. He still has all of his baby teeth, 2 of which are ‘silver’ that he is VERY proud of, lol. He warms the heart of everyone he meets with his happiness. He is our most caring, most creative, and by far the most easy-going of all the boys. This child is ALWAYS happy, and he has always been that way. He’s our comedian…. our animal lover…. our artist. He is quite the handsome young man, with his blonde hair and big blue eyes. We will be fighting the girls off soon, I’m sure.
He was the ‘baby’ for 5 long years, and I know it’s been an adjustment becoming an instant BIG brother to not 1, but 3 babies. He is such a great helper. He has sacrificed some things that other kids his age are involved in, i.e. organized sports, largely due to triplet logistics. We’re about to change that though. He wants to play basketball! When I was pregnant with the trio, Eli picked out ‘his baby’, Baby B, who was on the right. We named ‘Baby B’, Aidan. Coincidentally, Aidan looks JUST LIKE Eli, and acts like him too. I hope we have a clone, because this kid is hard to top.
We love you Elijah Cole! Please stay little for awhile, and please remind me if I forget.

My name is Abigail Pogrebin; I'm an identical twin and former 60 Minutes producer who just published a book about twins called "One and the Same." I think any parent of twins or multiples will find much to chew on and maybe some guidance as to how to dodge pitfalls of doubleness. I'd love to speak to you about the possibility of a book review and/or author Q&A. My email is apogrebin@gmail.com, website:www.abigailpogrebin.com.
