These boys really have no idea how lucky they are to grow up living in a place like this. How many kids can roll out of bed on an ordinary, non-vacation kind-of day, throw on some clothes, and head down to the beach for breakfast? I certainly didn’t have that! Growing up in north Texas, I was lucky to go to Galveston once a year, if that… and it took several hours in the car and a hotel stay to make that to happen. We have to remind ourselves each day just how fortunate we are to be here. Sure, it’s expensive to live in Cali, and we’ve had to make some lifestyle changes to make it work. (My older boys now think we used to live in a ‘mansion’ in Texas, lol.) However, all of our changes have been worth it so far, and I’m finding myself willing to make even more. I’m starting to ‘get it’. You just can’t ask for better weather, and the scenery is just beautiful. We haven’t even had to run the air conditioner yet and it’s almost July! Considering last year at this time we were in Vegas in 110 degree heat, this is crazy! We just LOVE it here, and I’m thankful for each and every day. Hopefully we’ll be here for a long, long time. Sure, it gets a bit lonely being so far away from all our friends and family, but we’re hoping to have visitors (hint, hint)!
Matt took a few pics of the boys playing in the sand (while waiting on our table for brunch) this past Sunday. I myself, was perched on a picnic table just enjoying the ‘view’. The beach was pretty empty since it was fairly early and since ‘June gloom’ is still in full force. They loved having so much room to explore and play. The rocks and sticks were a big hit for all of them!
