The House of Pannek

Mr. Keurig, My 2nd BFF

February 26, 2010 by Michelle 1 Comment

Aside from my Starbucks addiction (venti, non-fat caramel macchiato…. mmmmm!)…. this is my best friend…
Meet Mr. Keurig. I actually have 2 of these, should a malfunction of some sort occur. While I MUCH prefer Starbucks…. I am trying to refrain from going more than once a week (give or take… some days are better than others…). You know… with the economy and all… I’m trying to cut back. Seriously, when I go to Starbucks, I can’t just buy *myself* a drink. All you-know-what will break loose in the Suburban if I return to the car without one of those little brown bags. (Said brown bag usually contains mini vanilla sprinkled donuts or Madeleine cookies. Guess who those are for?) Oh, and if I happen to make an afternoon Starbucks run, or a weekend Starbucks run, the order gets even larger as it has to include 2 double chocolatey chip Frappuccinos, or ‘decafs’ as N&E call them. See where I’m going with this? So, on ordinary days, like today, Mr. Keurig will do.

Our day was going pretty well. I mean, look how great they did at lunch today, high chairs & all!

I know you are probably wondering if I ever dress these children. The answer is yes (most days, anyway). However, we usually don’t get around to it until after our lunch (in my defense they eat lunch early), unless we are going outside to play, run errands, etc. I already have more laundry than I care to deal with, and have to do at least one full load every single day. [I am REALLY GOOD at laundry, by the way. You should all be jealous. I’m thinking about adding it to my resume…] Yes, let them get their lunch all over their PJs…. save me a load or two.
So today, after they ate their lunch and after we cleaned everyone up, I pulled out Mr. Dyson (you know, the one I have the love/hate relationship right now). My boys LOVE this vacuum. Unfortunately they take advantage of me when I get it out. Surprised, are you? One or more of them will cause some sort of a diversion, for which I will put down the vacuum hose. While I tend to the problem, they run to the vacuum…. one removes the canister while the other 2 grab the hose and drag it around the room. We went through several cycles of this today. At one point Luke & Liam pulled a loaf of bread out of the drawer (which I didn’t know they could reach) and proceeded to pull every slice out of the bag. Sort-of defeats the purpose of vacuuming, doesn’t it? I was so busy dealing with the bread fiasco, I didn’t notice what Aidan was in to.
I learned something today…

Go figure! Now I have always heard that caffeine in *hyper* children has an opposite effect. I wonder if it’s true? Could it be? And to think, so many people out there use Benadryl (myself NOT included… not YET at least, lol). Perhaps they just need a Keurig… ?
I’m thinking the little brown bag on my next Starbucks run might include some espresso brownies in lieu of the donuts or Madeleines!
