My littles don’t sleep in. That’s nothing new. However, now instead of coming to our room when they wake up, they’ve started to demonstrate their own independence. Usually they will go in and terrorize Noah and Eli… and I’m completely fine with that! Yet, occasionally I will hear our fortress (gate) clang, which means they have made their way downstairs on their own. I have learned from experience, that upon that sound, it is imperative that I leap from my bed as quickly as possible. On more than one occasion I have come down to find my (locked) refrigerator and/or (locked) pantry unloaded, and them having a smorgasbord breakfast. This usually involves some ungodly combination of sliced cheese, Oreo Cakesters, Doritos, and of course, ice cream sandwiches. It is amazing what they can do in a few short SECONDS. STRENGTH in NUMBERS.
On this particular morning, the gate sounded right on queue… 6:25am. Don’t they understand it’s SATURDAY? I wasn’t moving all that fast this morning. At least not until I heard the clinking of what appeared to be my coffee mugs. I know that sound well. Nine times out of ten it means that they have moved a stool over, climbed on top of, and stood on the counter to reach the candy jar… which happens to be stored on the very top shelf of the same cabinet that my coffee mugs are in. They have practiced… and have learned how to execute this maneuver with extreme precision and skill. Sometimes they are so quiet I never even know they’ve done it. That is, until I find the glass jar at the top of the stairs with lots of wrappers scattered around it.
So today I jumped up and rand down the stairs. I was ready to BUST them, red handed. Instead, this is what I found…
Seriously???
“We making you coffee Mama!”
Can you tell what I do every morning as soon as my feet hit the downstairs?
Goes to show you they are WATCHING your every move…
How sweet are these ANGELS???
Yep. I’m feeling a pretty guilty right about now.
I wonder if I can teach them how to add my 1/2 packet of Sweet & Low and the cream?
