We had a super fun week here last week. My family came to visit from Texas!
We had my brother, his wife, their three kids, my mom, and even my dad (for a couple of days). My littles had never even met their cousins before. We left Texas when they were only 10 months old and had left Dallas a couple of years before that. Distance sure makes it hard to get everyone in the same place, at the same time. We are extremely grateful it worked out this time!
We had EIGHT kids in the house (15, 13, 12, 11, 8, 7, 7, 7)!
We did all the tourist-y things you would expect… Disneyland, the Beach, etc. I kept my four boys that are already back in school out on Monday (worth an unexcused absence in my book). I assumed that Monday would be a better day for Disneyland vs the weekend. Boy, am I glad we didn’t attempt a Saturday or Sunday. It was more crowded than I have ever seen it. It was also blazing hot. Thankfully most of the lines have shade and/or misters!
Excursions aside, we honestly had the most fun just hanging out. My older boys really enjoyed having the girls here (me too!). They only remembered them from when they were little, not the ‘cool’ teen and tween that they are now. We had inflatable mattresses out in the den and it was a big party filled with nachos and Netflix.
They really got along well, and I know that they have been missing them ever since they headed home.
Our extra little boy fit right in. It was like having QUADS for a week, haha! My littles had already set him up a Minecraft account on the Xbox and had the Legos and Lightsabers out. They were ready for him. They played until they were exhausted every single night.
I even got to go shopping for GIRL stuff for a change! I learned that Henna tattoos are all the rage. Funny story… the girls really wanted to get a Henna tattoo on their hand. My HUSBAND knew exactly where the Henna kiosk is at the mall. Go figure. Seriously, he knew the exact location – right outside the Adidas store. Mind you, I have been to that Adidas store more times than I can count and have never noticed the Henna stand.
Everyone is back home now and we are getting back to normal around here. I finally deflated the last air mattress yesterday afternoon. Those were a novelty around here and my little dudes wanted to sleep on them. I decided it was time to put them away yesterday when I found them playing Xbox on a double-stack!
Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long before we see them again. My guys are asking me every single day when they are coming back!
