Last weekend was my local multiple’s group consignment sale. I have no idea how much I made yet, but I did enjoy ‘working’ the sale. Would you believe they had over 600 people come through??? Matt is always lecturing me that we would be much better off just donating the items and taking the tax deduction. What the husbands’ don’t ‘get’, is the fact that it’s not just about getting rid of the ‘stuff’, it’s about getting away from the kids for a few hours and actually spending time around ADULTS…. go figure! Not just any adults either…. we’re talking ladies that share the same desire to temporarily be set free from their own kid-chaos at home. No, we do not sit around and bash the husbands, as they might assume! We talk about all the things that the husbands’ don’t want to hear… kid milestones, clothing sales, coupons, diaper quality, recipes…. mom stuff. A funny thing happened this week at my house… I was rattling off something about sippie cups (something along those lines)… Matt looked at me and said ‘you know whenever you start talking about pacis, sippies, kid sizes, coupons, recipes, etc…. all I hear is ‘blah, blah, blah’. I looked right at him and said ‘this is my life now!’… His response? ‘Man… your life sucks!’ We both were laughing hysterically, and yes, he was joking of course. It was a bit of a reality check. I’ve come a long way from my former CPA life. I guess I need to sit around and initiate conversation discussing debits and credits or 1st quarter financial results, to keep his attention, lol.
Move It Out…
Sure, these sales are a lot of work to get ready for, but at the same time, it’s a little therapeutic for me. Plus, all of the boys got to spend Friday night and 1/2 of Saturday alone with their daddy, and they had a blast (daddy included)! I ended up pricing close to 500 items…. mostly clothes. I had 3 crammed-full racks of clothing, a huge bin of non-hanging clothing, a 2nd huge bin of random baby items, and 2 large moving boxes of stuffed animals and toys we’ve outgrown. This doesn’t include the multiple bags of items I took to Goodwill, so I actually hauled quite a bit out of here! I also ended up unloading additional boxes from our move. I hit the jackpot in PJs that fit the trio now… leftover from Eli. Between all the clothing I bought from my BBB friends, the few new items I purchased, and all the stuff I found leftover from N&E… they don’t need ANYTHING again until fall (clothes-wise). I did end up bringing 1/2 a rack of clothing home and a few random things, but overall it was a success… and I had fun!
Here are a few pics to illustrate what I’ve been up to for the last couple of weeks:
I had to go to Ikea and buy a 3rd rack for clothing, and while I was there I picked up a $10 tent to keep the littles busy for awhile. (I also found Ikea to be a great place to take the little ones to. They have an awesome breakfast that we enjoyed before we shopped, too!) Notice how the top of the tent is warped? I think that happened within the first five minutes. They don’t understand the idea of keeping it in one spot, let alone in an upright position. Nope… this tent has been dragged, thrown, smashed, wrestled in, eaten in, spit on… you name it. They still play in it today…. however, it’s starting to look a bit rough!!! My guess is it will make it out to the trash soon. It was something to keep them happy, so disposable or not, it was worth every cent!
Yes… they are naked again. They have learned to take off their clothes themselves and this is the way they like to be. As long as they leave their diapers on, I don’t care!!!
I’m off to brush up on my accounting lingo so I can have an intellectual conversation with my hubby when he gets home… đŸ™‚
