Last night I got a surprise call from my hair salon reminding me of my appointment this morning. I knew I had an appointment sometime in February, but didn’t realize it was today. Now what girl doesn’t like getting her hair done? I was fortunate and found a fabulous guy here, shortly after we moved. Funny thing, in Austin I was getting a cut and highlight every 6-7 weeks. Now in Vegas, I’m getting a cut and color (to cover up my highlights) every 6-7 weeks. You would expect the opposite, right? I guess being the mother of 5 boys, including 1-year-old triplets keeps me out of that ‘Vegas’ mold. (That, and maybe a few other things…. ) Has anyone ever heard of a hairdresser having an ‘assistant’? Mine does! If you haven’t ever experienced 2 blowdryers at the same time, it’s odd! Seriously, this guy has an assistant that washes your hair, combs you out, etc., and YES, helps blowdry. One on each side. Now, the guy that does my hair is the owner of the salon, but I still would never have expected that. Today we kept it simple, same cut as before. We were going for the Katie Holmes look. Now if I could just get her body!
On my way home I received a text message from Matt saying that the microwave just ‘burned up and died’. The house we are leasing has been built for a couple of years, but we are the first people to move in. We’ve had to work out a few kinks, but I would not have expected an appliance to malfunction this early. I called him right away and asked him if Noah had put something metal in it (again). Unfortunately it was Matt, and he was only heating a tamale on a paper plate. The tamale never heated up, and now there is a brown, burnt, melted spot inside microwave. I guess I’ll have to let the landlord know on Monday. In the mean time, I am guessing we will probably have to hit the Wal-Mart and buy a cheap one. You don’t realize how often you use a microwave until you don’t have a microwave. At least, I didn’t. Matt obviously didn’t get his tamale for lunch. Tonight the babies had ravioli’s for dinner. I can’t remember the last time I actually pulled out a pot and heated those up on the stove. My older boys love the Kid Cuisine TV dinners. I’m sure they can be cooked in the oven, but who does that??? Am I going to have to warm milk up on the stove for bedtime bottles??? How am I going to make the mini pancakes? It’s the little things…. why do I feel like my life just got more complicated… all over a microwave!
